1. Introduction

Vissulo ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use Vissulo — a professional AI photo editing application for Android ("the App").

Our core promise is simple: Vissulo is designed to work entirely on your device. All photo processing, including AI-powered features like face detection, background removal, and image enhancement, happens locally on your phone. Your photos never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share or save them.

By using Vissulo, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

Your photos never leave your device.

Every edit, every filter, every AI enhancement runs locally. No uploads, no servers, no accounts required. Vissulo works completely offline — your privacy is built in, not bolted on.

2. Information We Collect

Vissulo is designed to minimize data collection. We do not collect, store, or transmit your photos, edits, or personal content to any server.

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Email address — if you choose to sign in with Google Sign-In for optional features (such as increased daily export quota). Sign-in is entirely optional; you can use Vissulo without an account.
  • Customer support communications — if you contact us via email, we retain the correspondence solely to address your inquiry.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

With your explicit optional consent, we may collect:

  • Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) — anonymous diagnostic data when the app crashes, to help us fix bugs and improve stability.
  • Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics) — anonymized, aggregate information about how you interact with the App (e.g., which features are used most often). This helps us prioritize improvements.

Both Crashlytics and Analytics are disabled by default. You will be presented with a consent prompt on first launch, and you can change your preference at any time from the App's settings. If you decline, no crash or analytics data is collected.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

Your photos Face / biometric data Edits & history Location data Contact list Device identifiers

3. Face Data Processing

Vissulo's Beauty Studio uses on-device machine learning (ML Kit Face Mesh and MediaPipe) to detect facial landmarks for retouching and reshaping features. This processing is classified as biometric data under GDPR Article 9.

How we handle face data

  • 100% on-device — Face detection and processing happens entirely on your device using ML Kit and MediaPipe. No face data is ever sent to any server.
  • Session-only — Face data is used only for the current editing session and is deleted when the session ends.
  • Explicit consent — You will be asked for explicit consent before any face data processing begins. You can revoke consent at any time from the App settings.
  • No storage — Face mesh coordinates are held in memory only during active editing and are never persisted to disk or transmitted.

The face detection models (ML Kit Face Mesh, MediaPipe Pose Detection, ML Kit Selfie Segmentation) are bundled with the app and run locally. No internet connection is required for any face or body processing feature.

4. Device Permissions

Vissulo requires the following permissions. Each is used only for its stated purpose:

Permission Purpose Required?
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13+) Open and edit photos from your gallery Yes
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) Open and edit photos from your device Yes
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) Save edited photos to your gallery Yes
CAMERA Take a photo directly within the App for editing No
VIBRATE Haptic feedback during slider and tool interactions No

You can grant or revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Revoking storage or camera permissions will limit editing functionality.

5. Third-Party Services

Vissulo integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

Service Purpose Data Shared
Firebase Crashlytics Crash reporting (optional, consent required) Anonymous crash diagnostics. Disabled by default.
Firebase Analytics Usage analytics (optional, consent required) Anonymized event data. Disabled by default.
Firebase Auth / Google Sign-In Optional user authentication Email address (only if you sign in)
Firebase Firestore Cloud database for premium grants, community styles, and remote config Anonymous usage data and user ID (if signed in)
Google Play Billing Subscription purchase processing Purchase token (processed by Google, not stored by us)
Google AdMob Rewarded ads for watermark-free exports Anonymous ad identifiers. Standard AdMob data.

Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics are disabled by default and only activate if you explicitly opt in via the consent prompt. AdMob serves rewarded ads only when you choose to watch one for a watermark-free export — no ads are displayed in the editing interface.

6. Data Storage and Security

Vissulo stores only local data on your device using Hive (a local key-value database). The following is stored locally:

  • App settings and preferences (theme, language, tool arrangement)
  • Consent preferences (face data processing, crash reporting, analytics)
  • Export quota counters (daily/weekly remaining free exports)
  • Editing history (50-step undo/redo) — temporary, cleared when the session ends

No data is stored on external servers. There is no cloud sync, no account-based storage, and no remote backup of your edits or photos. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is removed.

7. Children's Privacy

Vissulo is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@vissulo.com so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

GDPR (European Economic Area)

If you are in the EEA, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Right of access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — Request deletion of your data. Since almost all data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling the App achieves this.
  • Right to restrict processing — Restrict how we process your data.
  • Right to data portability — Request transfer of your data.
  • Right to object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@vissulo.com. We will respond within 30 days.

CCPA (California)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act grants you:

  • Right to know — Request disclosure of personal information collected, used, or shared.
  • Right to delete — Request deletion of personal information.
  • Right to opt out — Opt out of the sale of personal information. Vissulo does not sell personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To exercise your CCPA rights, email support@vissulo.com. We will verify your request and respond within 45 days.

Data Subject Access Requests

Because Vissulo stores virtually no personal data on servers (your photos and edits remain on your device), most data subject requests are inherently satisfied by the App's local-only architecture. For any residual concerns, contact us at support@vissulo.com.

9. Data Retention

Since Vissulo does not store your photos or edits on any server, data retention is determined by your own usage:

  • Photos and edits — remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. We have no access to them.
  • Crash reports (if consented) — retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
  • Analytics (if consented) — retained by Firebase Analytics in anonymized, aggregate form indefinitely.
  • Email correspondence — retained for as long as necessary to address your inquiry, then deleted.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the App (e.g., a prompt on the next launch) or via email if you have provided one.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of Vissulo after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
